FireFighter® Low Smoke Zero Halogen properties ensure that in the event of a fire the cable will not emit toxic fumes which may cause further damage to equipment or cost lives. FireFighter® data and control cables have been manufactured using Low Smoke Zero Halogen compounds throughout.

The advantage of documented third party approval from UL & CSA is that the verification process is underwritten by these authorities. Belcom carries extensive stocks of UL/CSA approved Data Cables manufactured by independently verified cable factories to ensure only quality assured cable is supplied.
FireFighter® cables are produced to exacting IEC standards for fire performance covering 60332-1 flame resistance for single cables and section 3 for bunched cables as well as low smoke generation (61034) and negligible halogen gas emission (60754-1).
They are available in 600V tray cable versions and also in Offshore styles (60092).

With the threat of counterfeit products undermining all markets including cable manufacture it is becoming harder for the end user to verify that they are getting what the are paying for. Our range of multicore and multipair data cables are available as “DUCT Grade” , these cables use the standard internal construction but have a black UV resistant , weather resistant heavy duty PE Sheath. These cables are designed for any external application but are ideal for use in cable ducts where standing water may have affected the PVC or LSZH versions.
Where further protection or for direct burial we recommend our DataGuard versions which can be installed internally or externally .
Multicore cables to UK Ministry of Defence Standards have been used for the interconnection of electronic equipment for many years to transmit data over short distances, and where environmental conditions are such that interference does not present a problem.
DEF STAN 61-12
Miniature cables are manufactured in accordance with DEF STAN 61-12 part 5 using 16/0.2mm tinned copper conductors, Sub-miniature cables are manufactured in accordance with DEF STAN 61-12 part 4 using 7/0.1 and 7/0.2mm tinner copper conductors .
These cables are utilised for signal transmission within a variety of applications, including process and data communications, for the interconnection of equipment and instruments.
In situations where signal integrity is a consideration, tinned copper wire braid screened and sheathed cables (C types) are available to combat EMI (electromagnetic interference) with the braid itself being occasionally used as the grounding point. The standard also includes a version with individually screened cores (D type) but this is very unpopular and is no longer a stock item for Belcom. Overall foil screened versions (S type) are available and include a tinned copper drain wire. The majority of applications currently use screened versions although where screening is not a consideration the standard cable (A type) can be used.

(IDC) Ribbon cables are a popular and time saving solution of electronic equipment, used on appliances ranging from high end computer equipment for business and manufacturing control to gaming machine and tech Bingo suites.
Precision pitch control during manufacture ensures a clean connection every time. UL & CSA approved and available on prepacked lengths of 30.5m,50m or 100m depending on the cable type , other bulk lengths are available on request.
These cables can be used in various applications such as computer networking, telecommunications and data transfer over short distances where interference does not present a problem. They are available according to US the US standard mandated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1976 or UK standard CW1311.
Alarm cables for intruder alarm intercom and detector connection. Available in shielded or unshielded LSZH, Duct grade PE or LSZH DataGuard® versions suitable for direct burial installations or internally where there is risk of damage or security breach.
All of the cables contained in this product release are compliant with the new BS 4737-3.30 2015 specification laid out by the British Standards Institute (BSi) , this replaces the 1986 version.
This new standard identifies all specification deviations such as the use of reduced copper conductor or copper alloys such as copper clad aluminium through the measurement of conductor resistance as well as highlighting where unsuitable compounds are used on Fire Performance versions. You can see this detailed below in an excerpt from the new BS.
Type 1 - Cable with resistance of less than 100 Ohms/km and low smoke zero halogen insulating and sheathing.
Type 2 - Cable with resistance of less than 100 Ohms/km and PVC insulatng and sheathing.
Type 3 – Cable with resistance of less than 155 Ohms/km and PVC insulation and sheathing All cables must be clearly labelled to show whether they are Type 1, 2 or 3 and must show the resistance value of the cable.
